Ristorante Groto de Corgnan opened in 1980 serving traditional, seasonal cuisine from Valpolicella. They respect local traditions, they make their own pasta, and prepare their dishes by hand. Their menu follows the seasons, reflecting the best Nature has to offer throughout the year. And they source their high quality seasonal ingredients, from small family-owned farms and suppliers in the Valpolicella and Lessinia regions.
“Groto” is an ideal place to celebrate a special occasion, or for those who want to enjoy authentic, regional Italian cuisine. They call their dining experience “an evening in Valpolicella” because the restaurant specialises in a tasting menu, with warm, friendly service, in a welcoming, homely environment, which in summer includes dining on their terrace under a canopy of grapevines. They have a historic and extensive wine list, allowing guests to choose bottles from the best producers across Italy, and they offer a Valpolicella wine degustation to accompany their tasting menu.
The dishes on their seasonal tasting menu change each day depending upon the availability of high quality local ingredients. Here are some examples: a winter salad of radicchio tardivo, artichokes, chicory hearts with Beef carpaccio and 3 year aged Parmesan cheese; spring Tortelli filled with wild nettles and fresh ricotta cheese; Tagliolini with black truffles from Lessinia; slow-cooked wild boar marinated in Amarone wine and served with stone-ground polenta and porcini mushrooms; a selection of Cheese from the dairies in Lessinia accompanied with their own jams and local honey; 3 flavours of gelato, with chestnuts cooked in honey.
The restaurant is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday at 20:00, and reservations are highly recommended.
